Space to ‘breathe’

Set aside a dedicated space for your regular practice. Make it your own. It’s important to have a space in which to relax and free-up your creative thought processes. No matter how small, you will inevitably benefit from a space to ‘breathe’. It is also important that you set aside time to allow your creativity to blossom. Guard this time carefully and try to ensure that others understand its importance to you.

In addition, it is also beneficial to create a ‘vibe’ within your space. This will help to enhance your creativity. You can use music, lighting, scents and objects, for example, to develop your own creative ambience.

Just get on with it!

Don’t doubt yourself! Just begin painting! And don’t wait for the ‘perfect time’, just get stuck in! So, what if you make a mistake? Well , just put it down to learning how to develop creative painting techniques. Creativity is in your mind, not in the timing or in the perfect tools and materials.

Attend art classes

Another useful way to enhance your painting creativity is to paint with like-minded people in an art class. This can promote the over-coming of obstacles to creativity and boost an individual’s self-esteem. Furthermore, this is especially so when encouragement is given by the person giving the lesson. We all like to feel a little ‘special’ and the practice of painting in a class gives us the opportunity to do so.

In fact, painting classes are a perfect opportunity to develop your ideas into something more tangible. You can master the process of converting what is in our mind’s eye to a creative piece on paper using brush or pencil. And, in this way you can develop your own, personal creativity.
